ALPFA Opens Annual Convention Career Day

Latino Veterans InfographicALPFA, the nation's largest Latino professional association, believes corporations recognize the leadership skills veterans bring to the table and wants to ensure Latino veterans are connected to these career opportunities as well as help them meet their career objectives. This year, ALPFA created the Veteran’s Initiative to help service men and women make the complicated transition into Corporate America, at a time when corporations need them the most.

At ALPFA’s upcoming Annual Convention Career Day on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Caesar’s Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas , the group will offer FREE registration for the Career Fair and Veteran’s panel discussion to Latino Veterans who present military IDs at registration/check-in. Veterans have an opportunity to connect with nearly 100 companies at the Career Day.

For many veterans, getting through the hiring process and assimilating into corporate culture can be challenging. According to the US department of Veteran Affairs, roughly six percent of current Veterans are Hispanic. This is where ALPFA’s new initiative can help.

“As ALPFA works to build Latino leaders, we want to support Veterans to transition from leadership in the military to leaders in the corporate community," said Manny Espinoza, ALPFA CEO.

In addition, new at this year’s convention will be an exclusive panel discussion for Latino Veterans called, “Military to Corporate -Tips for a Successful Transition.” The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at Caesars Palace , Pisa Room.

Panelists include:

  • USMC Veteran Orley Jose Pacheco, Military2Career.com Lead Staff, ALPFA Veterans Task Force Chair
  • USMC Sergeant Major (Ret.) Fenton Reese, CEO/ Founder of Veterans in Pursuit of Prosperity (VIPP)
  • Rear Admiral Will Rodriguez, US Navy, Retired, President of ANSO
