Just a reminder…
The Department of the Navy is hosting the 3rd Annual Wounded Warrior Hiring and Support Conference this weekend, Oct. 29-30 in San Diego. Join the conversation on Twitter at #HireWW12.
For the first time, this year’s conference will feature a two-day career fair and workshops for wounded, ill and injured service members and disabled veterans.
Career workshops for conference participants focus on building practical, essential skills for employment and how to navigate systems, like federal hiring programs, that exist to give wounded warriors and veterans a competitive edge.
Workshop topics include career assessment, goal setting, veteran’s skills translation; job hunting and networking; and apprenticeships, internships and training. Registration is free for wounded warriors and veterans.
The conference is sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs and co-hosted by Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. It is also supported by the DoN’s Office of Civilian Human Resources, Navy Safe Harbor and the Defense Civilian Personnel Advisory Service.
The Wounded Warrior Hiring and Support initiative, which was established in 2010 by the ASN M&RA, aims to coordinate wounded warrior employment efforts and ultimately increase wounded warrior employability by ensuring they have access to education, training and employment opportunities.
