U.S. Chamber’s Hiring Our Heroes to Celebrate Two-Year Anniversary with Veteran and Military Spouse Job Fair in D.C.
Event with Lead Sponsors Capital One and NBC4 Washington to Include More than 100 Employers with Jobs Available
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation, along with lead sponsors Capital One and NBC 4 Washington, will celebrate the two-year anniversary of the Hiring Our Heroes program with “Hiring Our Heroes – Washington, D.C.,” a hiring fair for veterans and military spouses. More than 100 employers are expected to participate with jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and levels of experience.
Since its launch in March 2011, Hiring Our Heroes has been able to help nearly 100,000 veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. More than 14,000 of those hires came directly from more than 420 hiring fairs the program has held nationwide. An additional 80,000 veterans and military spouses have been hired as a part of Hiring 500,000 Heroes, a national campaign announced by the U.S. Chamber, National Chamber Foundation and Capital One, to engage the business community in committing to hire half a million veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014. Thus far, more than 800 businesses of all sizes have pledged to hire 214,000 heroes toward this goal.
Companies registered for Hiring Our Heroes – Washington, D.C. range from America’s biggest employers to dozens of small companies from the region. The event will also include a free GE employment workshop that features one-on-one mentoring sessions on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

This hiring event is being held in partnership with the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, The American Legion, and other local partners.
