WASHINGTON – Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis will host a news media teleconference at 12:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 19, to announce the award of millions of dollars in grants to multiple states through the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. The program’s grantees will providehomeless veterans with occupational, classroom and on-the-job training, as well as job search and placement assistance, and follow-up services.
“The men and women who have served our country with distinction should not have to struggle to find good jobs when they return from service,” Secretary Solis said in announcing the teleconference. “These grants will help homeless veterans gain access to meaningful employment and more stable post-military lives.”
Secretary Solis will be joined on the call by Ismael “Junior” Ortiz, deputy assistant secretary of labor for the department’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service.
